How this website works

1. Static Webpages - This web page (and everything you're reading) is being served to you through the AWS CloudFront CDN. Specifically from the ~~~~~~~~ edge location, which is approximately ~~~ kilometers away from you!
2. Web APIs - But if this was completely static it wouldn't be very interesting. So dynamic content is delivered through a handful of APIs running on AWS Lambda. A nice benefit of this is they're free when not serving traffic.
3. Database - Let me be clear, this website DOES NOT need a database. But AWS is almost giving them away. So we can make 200,000,000 queries every month completely free!
   I'm not even close to the free-tier limits, but that's not an invitation to try!
